Yet another suicide on MRT track in one month. I have highlighted the needs for authorities to place barriers in open station but yet it was not possible due to the high costs involved.
If you do not wish for such things to occur, kindly ask media not to play up issues which would tend to encourage copycat suiciders. If anything, Mrs Tan who received more than $500,000 in donations since her husband’s death had probably send the wrong signal to would be suiciders. For someone who is at their ends wit, would love to be able to provide for their loved ones if they could just sacrifice themselves. It would end their misery, I mean they would have probably thought that they are better off dead.
It could be a dangerous trend we are seeing but if nothing is done, there will be more copycat suiciders who probably highlight their own case for the wrong reasons.
