The Analogy Between Being A Singaporean And A PR

In my previous article, I talked about how PR will have reduction in benefits and hence resulting in “benefits” (perceived subsidies) for citizens. The government had to balance its citizen in that the men had to do 2 years of National Service compared with PR.

In tomorrow.sg, it was rather interesting to see how some commentors form some analogies. The best I love so far is about a father (the Singapore government) who has a real son (citizen) and an adopted son (PR) buying them ice creams. Then the real son started to make crappy excuses that he has to do all the real work around the house (ie. National Service) while the adopted son gets to do nothing while enjoy the same benefit of living in the same house. While the real son do not wish for the adopted son to get any ice cream, the father decided to take a chunk off the adopted son’s ice cream and said, “now you have more ice cream than him”. (Even though there is no actual increase of benefit for the real son).

Think about it, yeah? Have a nice weekend all.
