I find it rather interesting to see how the post yuhui has created more questions. In one of the posts by some blogger, she mentioned how we should not only protect a person wearing sexy clothes from name callings like prostitute, we should also not used the word prostitute in a degradatory way.
I feel that those are two totally different meaning. Truth is, we are not hammering on the point that prostituition is bad. But rather the author of the now defunct posts (whom others are also claiming credit for) stigmatised the word prostitutes. Yet we live in a real world. A prostitute, though belong to the faction of the world’s oldest profession, is a very stigmatised profession in itself.
It is rather unfortunate for the society to create this ladder of different chaste society. You have the doctors, engineers, architects in one side of the society and supposedly the good side. And the other side you have the ah bengs, politicians, lawyers and hmmm.. prostitutes supposedly belong to the gang that hangs out with Darth Vader.
I highlighted the issue that YuHui might even had infringe on some common laws and could get himself in hot soup if the passenger had managed to identify herself and that the blogger could be sued for defamation (public access media materials). One potential reasons why he removed his blog. You cannot call a person using degradatory terms and unfortunately whether this blogger, who asked us not to stigmatised the profession by name calling, that prostitute is a degradatory term. Just imagine, without offence, if someone called you “a prostitute” in a public area, would you:
a) be happy and acknowledge and said thank you for not stigmatising the profession
b) sulk and tell him that he will be receiving a lawyer letter for saying that.
Though I must say I agree in principle with her concept of not stigmatising anyone by solely their profession, nonetheless we live in a very unforgiving society which includes herself, myself, all other bloggers and everyone else. We will not let people call us “prostitutes” right?

I agree totally. Sadly I do not know why some bloggers think otherwise. Whilst we should not make prostitutes sound like some disease, we should value the dignity of the woman. Anyway, in comparison, something will always fare worst than another. What do they expect us to say? Whoa you insult the prostitutes? Haha
ignorantsoup: cheers!
